Speaker:

How to help you reaching and making your new year's resolutions.

Speaker:

But before I go on, I want to give you my first Google Buster question

Speaker:

of the year 50,000 Americans are focused on this new year's resolution.

Speaker:

What is it as always?

Speaker:

I will give you my answer at the end of the podcast, or you will find it on

Speaker:

my Facebook group page the living well community, the new year just started.

Speaker:

And with the new year, many people already made lots of good resolution.

Speaker:

But by mid January, the lull sets in need a little inspiration for your

Speaker:

new year's resolutions to stick.

Speaker:

I have 59 more suggestions with lots of tips for you since I

Speaker:

haven't podcasts for a while.

Speaker:

And yes, I'm a week later than promised.

Speaker:

This podcast takes a little longer than usual, but I guarantee you,

Speaker:

it will be worth your while.

Speaker:

Since it will be difficult to remember all my good resolutions.

Speaker:

I will post a file with all 59 resolutions.

Speaker:

Leave me your email at, beyond your scale.com.

Speaker:

And I will send you the link.

Speaker:

I have divided the new year's resolutions into five different areas of life,

Speaker:

which area of life are you particularly interested in?

Speaker:

Health and well-being family and friends, finance, and money.

Speaker:

Do good personal goals, listen to them all.

Speaker:

And I'm sure you will find quite a few that will stick health and wellbeing.

Speaker:

You're not satisfied with your body.

Speaker:

Could you be fitter or you have a health device.

Speaker:

The following health resolutions for the new year will help you exercise more.

Speaker:

That is the classic par excellence and that is why I'm starting with us

Speaker:

a very commendable resolution, but doing more exercise is very vague.

Speaker:

Therefore, you should formulate this resolution in more detail.

Speaker:

How often does more exercises mean?

Speaker:

Write down a specific goal.

Speaker:

Like I exercise three times a week, check out my blog.

Speaker:

Don't stop now with three power tips to help you implement your new year's

Speaker:

resolutions and four bonus tips on how to get started with exercise.

Speaker:

Quitting smoking is another classic on the new year's resolution list.

Speaker:

Smoking not only burns money, but also valuable lifetime due to the health

Speaker:

effects there are lots of guides and apps to help you, how to quit smoking.

Speaker:

It is very important to find your personal, why that motivates you.

Speaker:

Even if you have low motivation, does the money you save motivate

Speaker:

you many apps, calculate the amount and visualize it for you, or maybe

Speaker:

you do it because of your children.

Speaker:

Find your personal pain point.

Speaker:

So that from January 1st, you will never touch a cigarette again.

Speaker:

Check out your app store for great apps, like quit now or a smoke-free that you

Speaker:

can really do the whole thing with.

Speaker:

Try it, give it your best, lose weight.

Speaker:

Another classic.

Speaker:

Do you have a few pounds too much after the Christmas season?

Speaker:

Or should you generally pay attention to your weight?

Speaker:

Then this good intention is just right for you, but take it easy.

Speaker:

Avoid all crash diets.

Speaker:

If you want to see a long-term effect, you have two parameters

Speaker:

that you can turn to physical activity and nutrition to succeed.

Speaker:

You have to turn on both and do more exercise as well.

Speaker:

Pay attention to your diet.

Speaker:

If you want to celebrate long-term success than by no means, forbid yourself from

Speaker:

eating, but observe the simple basics, such as a little sugar or sweets,

Speaker:

avoiding sugary drinks, eating consciously and taking enough time for each bite.

Speaker:

Losing weight will certainly not happen overnight, but if you pay

Speaker:

attention to these things, you will achieve lasting success.

Speaker:

Build muscle.

Speaker:

Feeling small and want to build some muscle perfect to start at the beginning

Speaker:

of the year, or as a matter of fact, anytime of the year off to the nearest

Speaker:

gym and off you go, however, as with the first good resolution, do more

Speaker:

exercise, make a plan of what you actually want to do so that you don't

Speaker:

become a dead weight in your gym.

Speaker:

Write down how often you want to go to the gym.

Speaker:

And enter the dates in your calendar.

Speaker:

If you've never been there before, then invest a little money in a personal

Speaker:

trainer first who will show you how to do the exercises correctly and who will

Speaker:

put together a training plan for you.

Speaker:

If you would like more tips on how to be guaranteed to go through

Speaker:

with the training and not lose your mojo, then you can finally

Speaker:

implement the new year's resolutions

Speaker:

don't forget to check out my blog.

Speaker:

Don't stop now with my four bonus tips.

Speaker:

So you are guaranteed to stay tuned to the training less alcohol.

Speaker:

Another resolution that will have a very positive effect

Speaker:

on your body and your health.

Speaker:

Try to formulate clear rules that you can live with.

Speaker:

For example, a rule could be no alcohol during the week on the one hand, try to

Speaker:

give yourself plenty of rest days when you completely abstained from alcohol.

Speaker:

And on the other hand, avoid excessive alcohol consumption.

Speaker:

Go out in the fresh air more often.

Speaker:

Do you also feel like you spent most of your day indoors, be it at work or in our

Speaker:

free time, we're going outside less and less set yourself a fixed workload again.

Speaker:

And how many days you want to consciously go outside in the fresh

Speaker:

air a little sunbathing can work wonders more activity in everyday life.

Speaker:

Smart people integrate more activity into their everyday life.

Speaker:

This takes a little time, but it has a big effect on you and your body.

Speaker:

You can find out how to integrate more movement into your daily life.

Speaker:

By listening to my podcast, number 46 diet versus exercise and my very first

Speaker:

podcast, cutting calories exercise.

Speaker:

Still not losing weight floss more often a good resolution

Speaker:

for dental health is to floss.

Speaker:

More often, many people clean their teeth beautifully, but the

Speaker:

spaces between the teeth are often forgotten or one is too lazy for it.

Speaker:

Approach the matter with the minimal principle and ask yourself

Speaker:

how often can I minimally floss?

Speaker:

If your answer is three, then from now on floss, your teeth at least three

Speaker:

times a week, your minimum goal should not stress you, but should be the value

Speaker:

that you can easily achieve every week.

Speaker:

And even if it's one time flossing, every Sunday evening is still

Speaker:

better than never flossing at all.

Speaker:

Fewer sweets

Speaker:

there was no shortage of something during the Christmas season

Speaker:

or any other time of the year.

Speaker:

Yes.

Speaker:

Sweets.

Speaker:

How about reducing your sweets?

Speaker:

Consumption's a little, again, not only your waistline will be happy about

Speaker:

this, but also your bathrooms scale.

Speaker:

Eat healthier.

Speaker:

This resolution is suitable for anyone who wants to eat more fruit and vegetables

Speaker:

instead of schnitzel and burgers, it's best to prepare a few healthy

Speaker:

recipes right away so that you don't fall into the unhealthy eating trap.

Speaker:

When you're shopping, eating healthy can be delicious and fun.

Speaker:

All you need is the right recipes.

Speaker:

Check out beyond your scale.com for recipes that are easy to

Speaker:

make for the whole family.

Speaker:

And everyone will enjoy drinking more water.

Speaker:

There are two things to consider first.

Speaker:

How much do you drink and second what you drink for people who are struggling

Speaker:

to get to the recommended daily amount, they can take a water bottle and

Speaker:

keep it near them at home or at work.

Speaker:

The best thing to do is to use a cup because of the smaller drinking

Speaker:

portions, make it more pleasant for you this way, you can also check how

Speaker:

much you already drank during the day.

Speaker:

They're even apps that can help you to keep track of how many you have.

Speaker:

The second new year's resolution, which can be on the stood as

Speaker:

drinking more water is to rely more on water or unsweetened tea.

Speaker:

If you omit sodas and energy drinks in everyday life, you can

Speaker:

save a lot of calories this way.

Speaker:

You will lose weight without having to do a lot of work for it.

Speaker:

Getting up at the first sound of your alarm.

Speaker:

The snooze button is indispensable for many people in the.

Speaker:

As pleasant as it may seem to you, it is bad for you.

Speaker:

If you get up on the first ring, you'll feel better throughout the

Speaker:

day, integrating it into everyday.

Speaker:

Life will take some effort at first, but if you manage to do it for 30 days, you

Speaker:

won't have any problems with it anymore.

Speaker:

You can find insider tips on how you really managed to get up without

Speaker:

the snooze button in my upcoming course, rock your morning to success

Speaker:

for a successful start of the day.

Speaker:

Sign up for my blog and you'll be notified when it becomes available.

Speaker:

Get more sleep,

Speaker:

sleeping more can also be a good resolution for the new year.

Speaker:

Do you often regret not going to bed earlier when you get up in the morning?

Speaker:

If so set yourself a fixed bedtime for the new year, by which you

Speaker:

will be in bed at the latest.

Speaker:

If you have to let your cell phone alarm clock remind you of this,

Speaker:

it is a well-known fact that sleep before midnight is the healthiest

Speaker:

get checkups regularly.

Speaker:

This tip especially important for men.

Speaker:

As a man you have a natural doctors, laziness in you.

Speaker:

Nevertheless, preventive medical checkups are extremely important.

Speaker:

If you can identify a type of cancer in its early stages, the chances

Speaker:

of recovery increase rapidly.

Speaker:

So get a thorough checkup at least once a year, pick up the phone

Speaker:

right away and make an appointment.

Speaker:

Get things done immediately.

Speaker:

The last good resolution idea is balm for your wellbeing and your nerves.

Speaker:

Everyone knows the little things in life that you like to put

Speaker:

off, making a transfer, making an appointment, making a quick phone call.

Speaker:

These little things are done quickly, but if they aren't done, they create

Speaker:

unnecessary stress and you can no longer focus on the important things.

Speaker:

So for the new year, you could make a resolution to do anything that takes

Speaker:

less than two minutes to do right away.

Speaker:

Guaranteed.

Speaker:

You save yourself a lot of nerves and even time you can thank me later.

Speaker:

Now, let's talk about the second category, family and friends.

Speaker:

Would you like to improve your relationship with your family and friends

Speaker:

or spend more time with them again?

Speaker:

With these good family resolutions you're guaranteed to succeed.

Speaker:

Spending more time with the family in the family category.

Speaker:

Spending more time with the family is of course at the top

Speaker:

of the list of good intentions.

Speaker:

However, like do more exercise.

Speaker:

This resolution is very vague and can mean many things define

Speaker:

together with your family.

Speaker:

What you mean by that?

Speaker:

For example, one family day per week that you devote entirely to

Speaker:

your family would be conceivable.

Speaker:

Have dinner together with a family more often.

Speaker:

This resolution also falls into the more family time category.

Speaker:

It's a nice ritual, and you can talk about what happened during the day.

Speaker:

It strengthens the family bond, and even the food tastes much better together here.

Speaker:

You can also proceed with a minimum principle, which I had mentioned

Speaker:

in the resolution use dental floss.

Speaker:

more often Think about how many days you can always make it, no matter what, the

Speaker:

circumstances that you can have dinner with your family, take the number three,

Speaker:

for example, then you would eat with your family at least three times a week.

Speaker:

Of course, it doesn't always depend on you alone.

Speaker:

This decision can therefore be a joint decision on how

Speaker:

often you can get eat together.

Speaker:

At least during the week,

Speaker:

do something with friends more often.

Speaker:

You're very busy in your job.

Speaker:

And of course the family must not be neglected either.

Speaker:

However, you should not forget your longstanding friendships.

Speaker:

Try to define concrete goals here.

Speaker:

How often you want to do something with your friends per week or per month.

Speaker:

There are many joint activities from a game night to eating out, going to the

Speaker:

movies or taking a vacation together.

Speaker:

I'm sure you'll find plenty of fun things to do together.

Speaker:

Visit your grandparents or parents more often your parents or your grandparents

Speaker:

will be happy if they see you more often with this resolution, you always keep in

Speaker:

touch with them because in our stressful everyday life, we often neglect to visit

Speaker:

our parents or grandparents more often.

Speaker:

Being more patient and understanding with your children, not looking for a moment

Speaker:

and the glass is broken or you have an unnecessary argument with your children.

Speaker:

Sometimes it's a good idea to take a look at yourself and see if you are

Speaker:

mirroring your own bad moods on your kids.

Speaker:

They certainly don't deserve that understanding and patience

Speaker:

help them more than a lecture.

Speaker:

Spend more time with your spouse or partner.

Speaker:

When you have children, your relationship with your spouse or partner often falls

Speaker:

short, never let it fall asleep and try to spend time together more often, whether

Speaker:

it's a run together or a short vacation without children, a good resolution could

Speaker:

therefore be to establish a spouse or partner day during the week or a month

Speaker:

where you only spend time together.

Speaker:

Even if it's only for a few hours

Speaker:

showing understanding for one another in the family, one should always show

Speaker:

understanding for one another, try to walk in the other person's shoe

Speaker:

and put yourself in their situation.

Speaker:

This will help you better understand why a person acts the way they

Speaker:

do in a certain situation.

Speaker:

Great for good family structure, whether in a small or large family circle,

Speaker:

less time on the smartphone, it wouldn't have needed this new

Speaker:

year's resolution a few years ago.

Speaker:

The smartphone is both a curse and a blessing in general.

Speaker:

We can say that we spend too much time on our cell phones as a good resolution.

Speaker:

You can set yourself a fixed smartphone time for the day.

Speaker:

For example, 20 minutes on Facebook in the evening, you can then use the

Speaker:

time gain to meet your offline friends.

Speaker:

You will benefit from this much more than from hours of chatting, commenting,

Speaker:

and sharing as an option, you can also make a whole day smartphone free.

Speaker:

And now let's talk about finance and money.

Speaker:

Are you not satisfied with your finances or could they be improved

Speaker:

then these financial resolutions for the new year, we'll have.

Speaker:

Save more.

Speaker:

This resolution is also a classic among new year's resolutions.

Speaker:

Saving more is always good, but often you fail because of your own behavior,

Speaker:

a quick bargain or a great special offer for a dress when you have nothing left to

Speaker:

save at the end of the month as with the other resolutions and other areas of life,

Speaker:

set yourself more concrete goals here.

Speaker:

Define the percentage for yourself that you want to save from now on.

Speaker:

A good value is 10%.

Speaker:

For example, you put 10% of your earnings as a fixed amount away

Speaker:

at the beginning of each month, consistently, preferably by automatic

Speaker:

transfer into your savings account.

Speaker:

The magic is if you put the advantage away at the beginning of the

Speaker:

month, you don't even notice it.

Speaker:

You can then give the access code to the savings account, to a trusted person.

Speaker:

So you can not withdraw anything from it during the month once it's been deposited,

Speaker:

get an overview, keep track of your household finances with

Speaker:

household bookkeeping, you can get an overview of your finances.

Speaker:

A very good financial resolution is to keep a household finance

Speaker:

book, at least for a few months.

Speaker:

This gives you an overview of where all your money goes, which

Speaker:

is often a big mystery anyway.

Speaker:

If you find yourself eating out too often, for example, you

Speaker:

can stop or go out less often.

Speaker:

You can document all income and expenses either by hand with a

Speaker:

self-made Excel sheet or with an app.

Speaker:

There are really good ones out there like mint by Intuit available

Speaker:

as an Android and apple app.

Speaker:

This overview can then show you quite a few things like what you still need

Speaker:

to optimize or where you already are.

Speaker:

Well positioned.

Speaker:

Cut expenses.

Speaker:

This resolution goes hand in hand with the previous one, in order to be able to

Speaker:

reduce your expenses, you must first know what you're actually spending money on.

Speaker:

Once you have this overview, you can optimize your expenditure.

Speaker:

For example, is your smartphone contract overpriced, and maybe you

Speaker:

don't need many free gigabytes.

Speaker:

Or do you have other fixed costs that you can avoid completely or improve on?

Speaker:

There's also a lot of room for savings for variable expenses, a coffee to go at the

Speaker:

seven eleven or Starbucks every day in the morning costs you $3 a day, $15 a week,

Speaker:

and around $65 a month and thus $780 a year money that you can easily put aside.

Speaker:

Making your own coffee

Speaker:

working toward the next raise.

Speaker:

There's a saying the wise man cuts his expenses while increasing his

Speaker:

income with a new year's resolution.

Speaker:

I just mentioned we've already tweaked the expenses quite a bit, but

Speaker:

the higher income is still missing

Speaker:

as an employee, you can set a goal for the new year that you want to get a raise.

Speaker:

Think about how you can bring even more added value to your

Speaker:

boss and how you can become more valuable to the company document.

Speaker:

Everything that you do.

Speaker:

This is a very good starting point for a review or a salary raise interview.

Speaker:

Build financial protection.

Speaker:

If you lost your job, wouldn't you like to know how to cope with all the expenses?

Speaker:

Then this could be the right resolution for you in the new year.

Speaker:

Financial protection helps you to sleep peacefully at night.

Speaker:

Save three monthly salaries as an employee, minimum six

Speaker:

as a self-employed person.

Speaker:

And put this amount in a separate savings book.

Speaker:

This buffer avoids a lot of stress and anxiety for you and gives you enough

Speaker:

time to sort and reorganize your life.

Speaker:

Sometimes it can happen very quickly that you lose your job and you don't

Speaker:

even have to be to blame for this.

Speaker:

For example, due to your employer's insolvency or unexpected pandemic.

Speaker:

Always keep your account in the black many people like to

Speaker:

live off tomorrow's expenses.

Speaker:

Another financial, new year's resolution could therefore be to only

Speaker:

spend money that you actually have.

Speaker:

So this year, your account will only be in the black, going below.

Speaker:

Zero is an absolute no.

Speaker:

What tips could help you when making purchases such as new shoes or other

Speaker:

consumer goods, you always give yourself at least a couple of days or even a week.

Speaker:

If it's a big purchase to think it over, avoid impulse buying.

Speaker:

If you still want something specific after that time, then you can buy it.

Speaker:

Provided you can afford it.

Speaker:

I often use the list feature on Amazon instead of buying something right away.

Speaker:

I just list it on my shopping list.

Speaker:

This is how you avoid spontaneous impulse purchases.

Speaker:

Another trick is to put a note in your wallet with a phrase Do I need

Speaker:

this, or do I want this, this tip might also keep you from making

Speaker:

one or the other impulse purchase.

Speaker:

No consumer credit consumer credit can be very dangerous.

Speaker:

Many financial advisors have a clear opinion on this.

Speaker:

Consumer loans are like drugs.

Speaker:

It's fun at first, but eventually lethal.

Speaker:

So, if you tend to pay for consumer goods, such as a new television or

Speaker:

vacation in installments, your new year's resolution is to reduce all existing

Speaker:

consumer loans and stop taking out more.

Speaker:

Consumer credit can be as addicting as it is to drugs.

Speaker:

There comes a point when it's no longer fun and hard to get away from it, work

Speaker:

towards your goals and then reward yourself this way is the more sustainable.

Speaker:

And healthier one,

Speaker:

reduce debt.

Speaker:

All previous financial new year's resolutions can help you to

Speaker:

reduce your debt sustainably.

Speaker:

If your resolution for the new year is to finally get rid of your

Speaker:

debt and live a carefree life, then make sure you have a plan.

Speaker:

As I mentioned before, use a budget, reduce your expenses, increase

Speaker:

your income and treat consumer credit as an absolute taboo.

Speaker:

Another tip that can help you is to build wealth at the same time.

Speaker:

That sounds bizarre at first, because you only see a huge mountain of

Speaker:

debt and wonder how can you build up a fortune because your money

Speaker:

is not even enough to service your debt, follow this train of thought.

Speaker:

Once you have reduced your debt, then you're in the black

Speaker:

isn't a very attractive goal.

Speaker:

If your debt is 20,000 and you're reducing a debt while building a

Speaker:

reserve fund at the same time, then you might be at a plus of $20,000.

Speaker:

A goal that is much more attractive.

Speaker:

If you consistently rely on this system, you'll be very successful

Speaker:

in getting rid of your debts because the magic is when you see your wealth

Speaker:

grow, you will cut expenses with fun and you won't feel compelled to do so.

Speaker:

And your earnings will increase too.

Speaker:

If you don't believe this tip try it.

Speaker:

It works 100% and has been proven hundreds of times in practice.

Speaker:

You should also set up your own investment account to build up your wealth.

Speaker:

Once you see the amount growing here, you'll start to

Speaker:

really enjoy reducing debt.

Speaker:

Do good, a new year's resolutions list for the environment, fellow

Speaker:

humans and society as a whole.

Speaker:

Do you have the feeling that you should help your fellow humans more often and

Speaker:

do more for the community with these resolutions for the new year, you will

Speaker:

help other people and society as a whole.

Speaker:

It's cool that you want to help others.

Speaker:

There can't be enough people like you.

Speaker:

Plus a cool tip with the last resolution, how we can increase the number further

Speaker:

donate more.

Speaker:

Like before with financial resolutions, you got good resolution ideas on how to

Speaker:

have more money available to you during the month with this money, you can now

Speaker:

do very positive things for society.

Speaker:

What does your heart desire do you want to support the local animal shelter?

Speaker:

Or organizations that help people in need or those that help the environment.

Speaker:

Everyone has a specific matter they care about.

Speaker:

So your good resolution can be to support this organization or association

Speaker:

regularly throughout the year plan an amount of money that you will donate to

Speaker:

one or more organizations each month.

Speaker:

You will definitely make someone happy with us.

Speaker:

If you want your donation to be used 100% for the purpose you give it for, you

Speaker:

can, of course also help directly with donations in kind, such as animal feed,

Speaker:

donate more to charity.

Speaker:

Instead of money, you can donate time to charity.

Speaker:

Many organizations only function because of their many volunteers.

Speaker:

Do you also want to be a part of it and do good with your time?

Speaker:

Great examples of places where you can help would be the red cross food or

Speaker:

grocery distribution center for the homeless, an animal shelter, or your local

Speaker:

athletic club and the youth department.

Speaker:

To make your resolution concrete again, think about how many

Speaker:

hours per week or per month you would like to donate to charity.

Speaker:

Then when you go to the place where you would like to help the people in charge

Speaker:

can then find an ideal place for you.

Speaker:

If there know how many hours you're willing to volunteer.

Speaker:

Putting your expertise to good use this good resolution is a small

Speaker:

extension of the previous one.

Speaker:

For example, you're a web designer and would like to donate some of your time.

Speaker:

Then you could make your professional expertise available

Speaker:

to a charitable association.

Speaker:

For example, if you have a local association that supports people

Speaker:

in difficult situations, you could offer the association that you build

Speaker:

a website for free so that you can publicize what the association does.

Speaker:

If you have certain talents or skills that you can use to support charity,

Speaker:

you should definitely use them that way.

Speaker:

Smile more often.

Speaker:

This good resolution sounds banal until you try it yourself, just

Speaker:

smile more in your everyday life.

Speaker:

You can make a person's day with a smile.

Speaker:

It costs you absolutely nothing.

Speaker:

But with this resolution, you will do yourself and those around you.

Speaker:

A lot of good,

Speaker:

the little things in life.

Speaker:

Just like smiling.

Speaker:

There are many little things in life where you can help someone else a lot and you

Speaker:

invest no more than 20 seconds in them.

Speaker:

For example, help someone carry their stroller onto the train,

Speaker:

donate to a street musician, or just hold the door open for someone.

Speaker:

We often encounter such situations.

Speaker:

Every day.

Speaker:

So your new year's resolution could be to consciously keep your

Speaker:

eyes open for such situations.

Speaker:

You do a lot of good with it.

Speaker:

With little expenditure of time or effort

Speaker:

Buy less plastic products.

Speaker:

This new year's resolution helps the environment.

Speaker:

The great Pacific garbage patch is around a half a million

Speaker:

square miles, bigger than Texas.

Speaker:

It will nearly triple by 2040.

Speaker:

We clearly use too much plastic and instead of properly recycling it.

Speaker:

It ends up on the streets or in the sea.

Speaker:

According to the world economic forum, w E F packaging accounts for 40% of plastic,

Speaker:

more than 90% of these end up in the garbage, after a short period of use.

Speaker:

So very important new year's resolution could be to avoid

Speaker:

this unnecessary pollution.

Speaker:

In the supermarket either make sure to buy products with packaging that

Speaker:

is as plastic free as possible.

Speaker:

Or you can also go to your own packaging, free shops here, you can purchase

Speaker:

food like cereal, pasta, and rice from bulk bins and fill a reusable bag or

Speaker:

container you save money and unnecessary packaging, or just search Google

Speaker:

for tips on how to use less plastic.

Speaker:

Drive less, this new year's resolution is also good for the environment.

Speaker:

The car is our dearest friend.

Speaker:

It's convenient and you can get anywhere with it quickly.

Speaker:

However, we often use it to travel distances that we could easily

Speaker:

have covered on foot, by bicycle or by public transportation, this

Speaker:

new year's resolution is good for both the body and the environment.

Speaker:

How would it be in the new year to rely more on environmentally

Speaker:

friendly means of transportation.

Speaker:

Donating Blood.

Speaker:

More than 38,000 blood donations are needed every day.

Speaker:

These blood donations come from people who have voluntarily donated their blood for

Speaker:

the common good with this good resolution, you can save lives if someone has lost

Speaker:

blood or needs a transfusion, for whatever reason, any of us can get into this

Speaker:

situation where we are suddenly dependent on blood donations from other people.

Speaker:

With this resolution, you help yourself and other people to ensure

Speaker:

that there are always enough blood reserves and thus save lives,

Speaker:

eat less meat.

Speaker:

We in the Western world clearly live in an abundance.

Speaker:

This is also noticeable in our meat consumption.

Speaker:

Many people eat meat almost every day, and it often comes from factory farming.

Speaker:

Eating too much.

Speaker:

Meat is not good for the environment or for your body animals in the meat

Speaker:

production process often have to suffer unnecessarily and there are three

Speaker:

big environmental issues with the production of meat, feed, sourcing,

Speaker:

manure processing, and climate change.

Speaker:

Raising meat takes vast quantities of feed.

Speaker:

This releases harmful substances like antibiotics, bacteria, pesticides, and

Speaker:

heavy metals, not only in your body, but also into the surrounding environment.

Speaker:

So how about making a new year's resolution to have one, two or more

Speaker:

meatless days a week, a sensible resolution with which you can do good

Speaker:

in many areas, including yourself.

Speaker:

Buy fair trade and organic products with the previous resolution, less

Speaker:

meat, you will already achieve a lot.

Speaker:

If you now combine this resolution that when you buy meat, you only buy high

Speaker:

quality meat from regional suppliers.

Speaker:

Then you are a true model student in this area.

Speaker:

There are big quality differences, not only in the meat, but

Speaker:

also in the other products.

Speaker:

With the new year's resolution buy fair trade and organic products, you will make

Speaker:

another important contribution to society

Speaker:

Buy more often directly from the farmer or at the farmers market.

Speaker:

This new year's resolution goes hand-in-hand with the previous one.

Speaker:

Be very careful about where your food comes from.

Speaker:

Buy more often from farmers in your area, either directly from

Speaker:

the farm or at the farmer's market.

Speaker:

And this way you not only support local regional providers, but also

Speaker:

do good for the environment and save on unnecessary delivery routes.

Speaker:

Just think of the conveys of trucks that thunder over our motorways every day,

Speaker:

throw away less food, the good intention that everyone should take to heart.

Speaker:

In an F A O study by the United nations.

Speaker:

The agency estimated that 1.3 billion tons of food, are thrown away worldwide.

Speaker:

That is around a third of the food produced.

Speaker:

2 billion people could be fed from the estimated food waste

Speaker:

the world generates each year.

Speaker:

And according to the USDA economic research service, roughly 30 to 40% of

Speaker:

the food in the United States is wasted.

Speaker:

That amounts to more than 20 pounds of food per person wasted each month.

Speaker:

What are the reasons why so much food is thrown away?

Speaker:

For now, let me only concentrate on the consumer us.

Speaker:

On the one hand it's due to excessive caution with the best

Speaker:

before date food can often be enjoyed for a long time after this.

Speaker:

Of course, this must always be decided on a case by case basis

Speaker:

based on appearance, smell and taste.

Speaker:

On the other hand, there's also a lack of proper planning.

Speaker:

Therefore you should buy and prepare smaller portions unless you're cooking

Speaker:

ahead for two or three days, you can often freeze food, so you don't

Speaker:

have to throw it out right away.

Speaker:

Every food saved and not thrown away is worth a lot.

Speaker:

Think before you have to throw food away,

Speaker:

Giving time.

Speaker:

There are many people who are lonely and would like someone to do

Speaker:

something with them as a resolution.

Speaker:

How about spending a day or afternoon with such a person say every two weeks

Speaker:

or once a month, for example, you might spend time with an elderly person

Speaker:

who has no relatives or an orphan who is missing significant others, no

Speaker:

matter who you give this gift of time to, you will be more than rewarded

Speaker:

with a smile and a good feeling,

Speaker:

helping a friend with his new year's resolutions.

Speaker:

Not only do you have many plans and a resolutions for the new year,

Speaker:

but so do your friends, why don't you support each other in this.

Speaker:

An English study of 3000 participants showed that 88% did not keep

Speaker:

their new year's resolutions.

Speaker:

That's a pretty big percentage.

Speaker:

In addition to my three power tips, read my blog on how to make your

Speaker:

new year's resolution sustainable.

Speaker:

You can get a friend on board.

Speaker:

You formulate your goals together, and then you check on each other.

Speaker:

This is not only helps you, but you also automatically help a

Speaker:

friend to achieve their goals.

Speaker:

A very useful resolution to help a friend with their new year's resolutions, right?

Speaker:

Encourage your fellow humans to do these good deeds as well.

Speaker:

Do you sometimes have the feeling that you can achieve relatively

Speaker:

little on your own then this new year's resolution is for you.

Speaker:

The more people participate and pick out one of these resolutions, the more

Speaker:

positive things are done for this world.

Speaker:

If you forward the link from this post to five or ten friends and tell them to

Speaker:

pick just one resolution from the Do Good category, you'll multiply your impact.

Speaker:

Suddenly not only you are doing something but 10 other people too.

Speaker:

So that's how you manage to get 10 times as many good deeds done through you.

Speaker:

Then throughout the year, encourage your friends to stay

Speaker:

tuned with this good resolution.

Speaker:

It will do a lot of positive things for our society in the next year.

Speaker:

Personal goals.

Speaker:

Your new year's resolutions for you.

Speaker:

Do you want to develop yourself personally and have big goals for the new year?

Speaker:

Here are a few inspirational new year's resolutions that might work for you.

Speaker:

Devote more time to your own hobbies.

Speaker:

Do you have a hobby that has been neglected in recent years then your

Speaker:

new year's resolution could be that you devote more time to this hobby again.

Speaker:

Okay.

Speaker:

Formulate a specific number of hours that you definitely want to have

Speaker:

per week or month for your hobby.

Speaker:

With this resolution.

Speaker:

You finally have time again for one of your favorite activities,

Speaker:

Start studying.

Speaker:

Have you been toying with the idea of starting a degree or

Speaker:

improving a skill for a while?

Speaker:

What do you think of a resolution to finally get down

Speaker:

to business on this topic?

Speaker:

Write down which points you still need to clarify for yourself.

Speaker:

What would I like to learn?

Speaker:

Does the course content meet my expectations?

Speaker:

How much time do I need for the course?

Speaker:

How do I finance it?

Speaker:

Now you schedule exactly what you want to know by which specific date.

Speaker:

For example, if you're interested in several courses or training courses,

Speaker:

you can go to the information days, you marked on your schedule to get

Speaker:

an idea of what suits you best.

Speaker:

The goal of this resolution is to that.

Speaker:

You finally start your studies and you might even decide no, this

Speaker:

training doesn't suit me that well.

Speaker:

Speaker:

Read more will help you in many areas.

Speaker:

Do you have a specific topic that has always interested you or do you

Speaker:

want to develop a skill in your job?

Speaker:

Lifelong learning is the order of the day these days, those who

Speaker:

stand still will soon be overtaken by others and you make yourself

Speaker:

replaceable with your old knowledge.

Speaker:

Everyone can find the time to read for half an hour a day.

Speaker:

You can do a lot with this little investment of time.

Speaker:

If you read one book a month, that's 12 in a year, and after 10

Speaker:

years, you will have read 120 books.

Speaker:

After reading that many books you'll realize how much more fun

Speaker:

life can be and how book after book will get you further in life.

Speaker:

Tip for people who drive a lot in the car.

Speaker:

Audio books saves time and you use the time that cannot

Speaker:

be used for anything else.

Speaker:

Besides listening to the radio or phone calls.

Speaker:

Learn something new.

Speaker:

When was the last time you learned a new language sport or instrument?

Speaker:

Has it been a while?

Speaker:

How about resolving to finally learn something new this year?

Speaker:

Which language have you been interested in for a long time?

Speaker:

Or would you prefer a new musical instrument?

Speaker:

There are many things you could start with.

Speaker:

The only important thing is that you decide beforehand how many

Speaker:

hours you want to invest in it.

Speaker:

If you then consistently spend that number of hours on the new thing, whatever it

Speaker:

is, you will have greatest success and have a lot of fun sticking with it.

Speaker:

Watch less TV.

Speaker:

Every minute you stare at the TV, you're ingesting mental garbage.

Speaker:

There are many benefits to making a new year's resolution to watch less TV TV

Speaker:

programming is riddled with negativity, quarrel, terror, traffic accidents.

Speaker:

You absorb these negative things every day, often in the evening before

Speaker:

going to bed watching television.

Speaker:

So if you're watching less TV, you're exposed to less negative

Speaker:

things, and this affects your mood.

Speaker:

Many people watch TV to relax.

Speaker:

You get relaxed when you read a book, but definitely not in front of the TV.

Speaker:

Here you are constantly at the mercy of impressions that our brain has to process.

Speaker:

Another big factor is the amount of time you spend in front of the TV.

Speaker:

Is it an hour or two or more?

Speaker:

If you sit in front of the television for two hours a day, that's 730 hours a year.

Speaker:

This corresponds to over 30 full days.

Speaker:

That means you spend a month of the year 24 hours around the clock,

Speaker:

just in front of the television.

Speaker:

These three reasons should be enough motivation for this new year's resolution.

Speaker:

You've already been given enough opportunities to do what you can

Speaker:

to do with the time you've gained,

Speaker:

Participate in a run.

Speaker:

When it comes to activity goals, one often has the challenge

Speaker:

of how to stay motivated.

Speaker:

You don't have that with this resolution.

Speaker:

When you're looking for a run to complete one that is organized with

Speaker:

a beginning and an end, you have a very specific goal to work toward.

Speaker:

Your health will definitely be happy about this resolution and you will

Speaker:

also feel fitter in everyday life

Speaker:

Become self-employed.

Speaker:

Everyone has dreams in their life.

Speaker:

A dream that is often mentioned is to become, self-employed finally

Speaker:

be your own boss work only for yourself and realize your ideas.

Speaker:

What do you think of the resolution to finally turn this into reality?

Speaker:

One should certainly not go into self employment with false

Speaker:

expectations and false hope.

Speaker:

It can be very hard, but at the same time, very fulfilling.

Speaker:

How about you?

Speaker:

Do you want to finally turn your dreams into reality?

Speaker:

Travel more and explore the world.

Speaker:

Have you always wanted to travel to a certain country or city?

Speaker:

Than this year make a resolution that you really go there and explore the

Speaker:

country or city of your travel dreams.

Speaker:

Traveling is good for the soul and you get a new perspective on the world.

Speaker:

This resolution will greatly enrich you and your personality.

Speaker:

If you still don't have the necessary money to travel, you can take a

Speaker:

look at the financial resolutions.

Speaker:

You'll get lots of ideas on how to set up the financing.

Speaker:

Be more grateful more often

Speaker:

When you have a roof over your head and enough to eat, you're better off

Speaker:

than most of the world's population.

Speaker:

You live in one of the best situated parts of the world, but that's often forgotten.

Speaker:

A very useful resolution can therefore be, to be more thankful more

Speaker:

often for the wealth that one has.

Speaker:

Pause for a moment in everyday life and just be thankful, you can also implement

Speaker:

the resolution with a gratitude journal.

Speaker:

Here you write down five things every morning for which you

Speaker:

are particularly grateful.

Speaker:

This resolution will ground you, and you will be able to enjoy life to the fullest.

Speaker:

Need help?

Speaker:

Download a gratitude app like bliss or delightful from your app store.

Speaker:

Take more time for yourself.

Speaker:

Do you have time for everyone and everything just never for yourself,

Speaker:

then you should change that this year.

Speaker:

Take time for yourself.

Speaker:

Be it with regular relaxation exercises, with a massage or with

Speaker:

a beauty treatment for the ladies.

Speaker:

What do you think of consciously creating timeouts for yourself?

Speaker:

Then you can do all the other things full of energy again.

Speaker:

Don't take everything too seriously.

Speaker:

This resolution saves you stress and is good for your blood pressure.

Speaker:

In everyday life.

Speaker:

You shouldn't always take everything so seriously, this creates

Speaker:

unnecessary quarrels and problems.

Speaker:

If you're the type who likes to run hot once in a while, then you

Speaker:

will do yourself a lot of good with this new year's resolution.

Speaker:

Clean house getting rid of unnecessary stuff.

Speaker:

We have so many things at home that we never use that are

Speaker:

just sitting in some corner.

Speaker:

What do you think of the idea of cleaning out the whole apartment or house for once?

Speaker:

This will free you from the inside and you will have more

Speaker:

breathing room in your home.

Speaker:

As with the other resolutions, make a plan, for example, take on a room every

Speaker:

week until you've cleaned out everything from the living room to the kitchen,

Speaker:

to the basement, you can give some of the things away and sell the other

Speaker:

stuff with a garage sale or online.

Speaker:

For example, with this new year's resolution, you not only

Speaker:

create a lot of space and it will also do you a lot of good.

Speaker:

Reward yourself more often, anyone can make this resolution , if

Speaker:

they do to fully stick to another resolution, reward yourself.

Speaker:

When you follow through with a resolution, this will help you keep going and you

Speaker:

realize that sticking to your resolution is really worthwhile and a lot of fun.

Speaker:

With this resolution, I'll also stop the list to conclude this podcast.

Speaker:

It's already long enough, but certainly not short of all the many things you can

Speaker:

do to set yourself up for the new year.

Speaker:

And by the way, you don't have to wait until the end of the year to

Speaker:

make your new year's resolutions.

Speaker:

Speaker:

or any other time of the year.

Speaker:

What is it?

Speaker:

According to a Statista study of 1,500 Americans, the top three resolutions

Speaker:

for 2021 were exercising more, losing weight and saving more money.

Speaker:

50% of respondents said they were focused on exercising more 48%

Speaker:

said they wanted to lose weight.

Speaker:

And 44% said they wanted to save more money.

Speaker:

While at some might say that they do not need new year's Eve to finally turn their

Speaker:

life around making resolutions on December 31 is a common well-liked tradition,

Speaker:

About the Podcast

Live More Stress Less
Say No to Stress to live a happier, more active life
Is stress making you frustrated and irritable? Our lives are full of stressful situations. But did you know that some people simply lead lives that create more opportunities for stress than others? Your thoughts and way of life can actually affect how your body and brain process stress, for better or worse.
As a life success coach, Patrick Schoeneborn takes his listeners beyond the basics of work, school, relationships, and daily hassles that often serve as stressors or sources of stress. Stress isn't necessarily a bad thing. Good stress, or eustress, pushes us to work harder and live better.
Discover why some people handle stress better than others, how lifestyle behaviors can affect stress levels and how to prevent stress through a healthy diet, regular exercise, and a more balanced lifestyle.
Join Coach Patrick on Live More, Stress Less to learn, as challenging as it can be, how sticking with healthy habits—eating right, exercising regularly, practicing mindfulness, maintaining a healthy weight, and living a balanced lifestyle—can help you reduce stress to live a longer and healthier life.
